Dagens pyssel, frostat glas –
Craft of the Day, frosted glass

  6. Härda i ugnen i 30 min på 160℃. Sedan är det klart!

I think frosted glass looks lovely. I tried this craft a few years ago but it wasn’t a success. I painted freehand and the result wasn’t pretty… This time I did it a bit differently.

This is what I used:

  • Glass bottle
  • Hobby knife
  • Frosted Glass Laquer
  • Self-adhesive vinyl, mine was adhesive
  • Brush

How to:

  1. First I wrote the text I wanted in MS Word, using a font that I like. When I was happy with my text I printed it on a blank paper. Be careful not to use a font that’s too light.
  2. I used adhesive transparent vinyl and placed it on top of the A4 text sheet. Then I traced the contours with the hobby knife and made a stencil. It’s easier if you have a really sharp knife (and something to protect your tabletop so you don’t scratch it).
  3. Time to remove the protective plastic on the back of the vinyl and place the stencil at the desired location of the bottle (or vase / glass / bowl). It’s important that there are no air bubbles close to the text.
  4. Paint with Frosted Glass Laquer over the stencil. One or two layers. It dries in about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove the stencil when the paint is dry. It’s possible to scrape off any excess paint with the hobby knife if you do it carefully.
  6. Fire in the oven at 160℃ for 30 minutes. And that’s it!
