Och vinnaren är… – And the winner is…

Vad roligt att det blev en sådan fantastisk respons på min lilla utlottning. Otroligt kul att så många anmälde sitt intresse och jag fick en hint om hur många som faktiskt läser bloggen. Tack! För att utse en “vinnare” av tygbandet numrerade jag alla som anmält sitt intresse, här och på Facebook. Jag använde mig av en slumpgenerator på nätet för att det skulle bli rättvist. Lotten föll på Carin, en svensk bloggare som bor i Storbritannien. Och för er andra, som inte hade turen på er sida – jag lovar att det kommer fler tillfällen!

I’m impressed by the fantastic respons to my little giveaway. I was happy to see that so many participated and it gave me a hint on how many people actually read my blog. Thank you! To select a winner of the cotton ribbon I numbered all the participants, here and on Facebook. I used an online random number generator, to make a fair selection. The lot fell on Carin, a Swedish blogger living in the UK. And for those of you that weren’t as lucky this time – there will be more opportunities in the future, I promise!

När Karin & Freja på Pysselbolaget skapade sin lyxiga småförvaring härom dagen fick jag inspiration att göra något fint av mina gamla smink- och syltburkar.

Du behöver: Gamla burkar, leksaksfigurer (t ex lego, plastdjur eller KinderEgg-prylar), superlim och sprayfärg.

Gör så här: Rengör burkarna (plast- eller glasburkar spelar ingen roll), ta bort gamla etiketter och limma fast dina figurer på locken med superlim. När limmet torkat är det bara att börja spraymåla. Läs instruktionerna på sprayburken. Vanlig torktid är ca 10 min om man sprayar ett relativt tunt lager. Man kan med fördel spraya flera lager för att få en snygg och täckande yta.

When Karin & Freja at Pysselbolaget created their luxurious small storage the other day I got the inspiration to make something pretty out of my old cosmetic containers and jam jars. 

You will need: Empty cans or jars, toy figurines (such as Lego, plastic animals or KinderEgg-stuff), super glue and spray paint.

Do like this: Clean the jars (plastic or glass doesn’t matter) and remove old labels. Glue your figurines in place on top of the lids, preferably using super glue. Start spray painting when the glue has dried. Read the instructions on your spray can. It usually takes about 10 minutes for the paint to dry. It’s recommended to spray several thin layers to get a nice and smooth surface.

I went outdoors for the spray painting and sprayed the objects inside a paper bag to avoid the spray paint from spreading. 

En gammal plastburk blev en muffinsformhållare med smurf-feeling. /
An old plastic container turned into a cupcake wrapper holder with Smurf feeling.

Sovrummet – The bedroom

Vi renoverade vårt sovrum för ett par år sedan. Innan renoveringen var väggarna mörkblåa och tak, fönsterfoder och golv var i gulnad furu. Ganska mörkt, vill säga. Vi ville ha ett ljust och vilsamt sovrum. Till skillnad från resten av huset fick det bli sparsmakat med färger i sovrummet. Lugna toner för ett lugnt rum.

Tapeten heter Tulip Tree och kommer från Cole & son (men verkar inte finnas i sortiment längre). Smyckeshängarna kommer från Berry Details. Fåtöljen är Tomelilla från Ikea, med nytt överdrag från Bemz.

We redecorated our bedroom a couple of years ago. Before the renovation the walls were dark blue and the roof, the window frames and the floor were untreated pine. Fairly dark, that is. We wanted a bright and restful bedroom. Unlike the rest of the house, the bedroom is decorated in muted colors. Soft tones for a peaceful room.

The wallpaper is Tulip Tree by Cole & Son (but seems to be out of production). I found the jewellery hangers at Berry Details in Stockholm. The armchair is Ikea’s Tomelilla, with a new cover from Bemz.

Bakom det hemmasydda draperiet förvarar vi våra kläder på klädställningar på hjul från Ikea. Framför draperiet hänger min nya klänning som jag hade på helgens kalas (inköpt på Esprit). /
We keep our clothes on wheeled clothes racks from Ikea, stored behind these home-sewn curtains. In front of the curtain hangs my new dress (from Esprit), bought especially for last weekend’s celebration.

Steghyllan är köpt på Ellos. Väggen är målad i samma grundnyans som tapeten på motsatta sidan av rummet. En av lådorna på hyllan är en gammal skokartong som jag klätt med tapet. /
This wall is painted in the same nuance as the wallpaper on the opposite side of the room. One of the boxes on the shelf is an old shoe box that I covered with wallpaper.

More organized trims and ribbons

Kommer ni ihåg för ett tag sedan när jag sorterade mina band i TicTac-askar? Då belönade jag mig själv genom att köpa lite fler band (och… hoppsan… lite annat). Därmed fick jag lite mer att sortera… Mina nya band har jag virat runt trådspolar – några i trä (både begagnade och nytillverkade) och några i plast (från mammas gömmor).

Banden, knapparna och synålarna ovan kommer från Syfestivalen i Älvsjö där jag var för ett par helger sedan. Många av banden köpte jag för en spottstyver, 1-3 kr metern. Andra var lite dyrare men ändå överkomligt. Ett relativt billigt nöje, vill säga. I alla fall om man bara köper en meter eller mindre. 🙂

Do you recall a while back when I organized my trims and ribbons in TicTac-containers? When I was done I treated myself to some new trims (and … oops … some other stuff). This led to some additional organizing … I rapped my new ribbons around spools – some wooden ones (vintage and new) and recycled plastic spools (from my mom’s stash). 

The trims, buttons and sewing pins above are all bought at the Sewing Festival in Älvsjö, Stockholm, which I visited a couple of weekends ago. I didn’t pay more then pennies for some of them. Others cost a bit more but was still quite affordable. A relatively inexpensive pleasure, that is. At least if you stick to buying one meter or less. 🙂

  

Dessa begagnade trådrullar köpte jag från Hello Stevie Vintage på Etsy, 9 rullar för $ 3.75 (drygt 25 kr) + frakt förstås (som gick på ungefär lika mycket). Men visst är de fina! /

Här gjorde jag ett litet misstag och råkade köpa ett band som jag redan hade… Därför tänkte jag fråga om någon är intresserad av två meter av bomullsbandet ovan till höger, det med fågelburen och blommorna? The ribbons above are purchased from Riky and Nina, Etsy. Here I made the mistake to order a ribbon I already had … Therefore I’m asking if there’s anyone out there who is interested in two meters of the cotton ribbon to the upper right, with the bird cage and the flowers? Det blev lite washitejp också… På Le Box Boutique, Etsy, kan man köpa miniatyrrullar (jämför med tändstickan så ser ni hur små) med washitejp i en massa olika mönster. 15 rullar för en rimlig penning. Jag köpte även några tomma rullar, av lite större storlek. Washitejpen med fjärilar kommer också därifrån.

I happened to buy some washi tape also … At Le Box Boutique, Etsy, you can buy miniature spools (you can se just how small compared to the match in the picture) with washi tape in a variety of different patterns. 15 spools for a reasonable prize. I also bought some empty rolls of a lightly larger size. The butterfly patterned washi tape is also from the same store. 

Ordning och reda! Nu har jag köpstopp… Hyllan är full och plånboken tom. 😉 Men jag räknar det här som en födelsedagspresent till mig själv! /
Neat and tidy! Now I’ve exceeded my budget … The shelf is full and my wallet is empty. 😉 But I’m counting this as a birthday gift for myself!

Flowers & table setting

Först och främst, tusen tack för alla fina födelsedagshälsningar! Jag hade verkligen en helt underbar dag och känner mig enormt firad. Både av släkt, vänner och även av er kära bloggläsare.

Ovan ser ni bilder på dukningen i lördags. Idén till att duka med tulpaner hittade jag på Ellas Inspiration där Karin presenterar massor med fina dukningstips. Jag köpte pappersservetter med linnekänsla i två olika färger, vek ihop dem med skarven undertill, placerade en tulpan på varje servett och knöt ett litet tygband runt. Jag hade proffshjälp med dukningen av min fina mamma och en snäll kusin.

First of all, thank you for all your lovely birthday greetings! I had a really wonderful day and I felt very celebrated. Both by my family, friends and also by you dear blog readers.

Above you can see pictures of Saturday’s table setting. I found the idea of ​​setting the table with tulips at Ellas Inspiration where Karin presents plenty of gorgeous table-setting tips. I bought some linen-like napkins in two different colors, folded them, placed a tulip on each one of the napkins and tied a ribbon around. I had great help with the table setting by my beloved mother and a helpful cousin. 

Förutom fina presenter (en cykelresa i Toscana i höst t ex, vilken grej va!) så fick jag massor av vackra buketter. Vilken äng av blommor jag har hemma nu, en riktig färgexplosion! /
In addition to many fabulous gifts (a Tuscany bike tour in September, for example, how about that!) I also received a bunch of beautiful bouquets. What a meadow of flowers I have at home, a real color explosion!

Dessa söta porslinstulpaner köpte jag på ÖoB för 15 kr/st i förra veckan. Jag satte små ljus i dem till festen. /
I bought these cute porcelain tulips at a local store last week for 15 SEK (under 2€) each. I placed small candles in them for the party.

Dagen för festen är är. Desserterna är i alla fall klara. Om inte annat får vi äta oss mätta på sötsaker. 🙂 Familjen väckte mig med skönsång och paket. Det känns som att det här kommer bli en fin dag!

It’s the day of the party. At least the desserts are ready. If nothing else, we can fill our stomachs with sweets. 🙂 I was awoken by my singing family surprising me with gifts. It feels like this is gonna be a good day!

Till efterrätt vid morgondagens fest blir det dessertbuffé och för att spara disk har jag inhandlat plastglas. I dem tänkte jag servera små portioner av Tiramisú. Andra sötsaker på buffébordet blir hallonpannacottapaj, baci (italienska chokladkyssar) och mandelskorpor. För att piffa till plastglasen lite tejpade jag dem med pastellfärgad washitejp.

For dessert at Tomorrow’s party we are having a dessert buffet and to save on the washing up I bought plastic glasses in which we will serve small portions of Tiramisú. Other sweets on the buffet table will be Raspberry panna cotta pie, Baci (italian chocolate “kisses”) and Almond biscotti. To prettify the glasses a bit, I decorated them with washi tape in pastel colors. 

Stora dottern bad att få låna ett par rullar washitejp och sprang upp på sitt rum. En stund senare hämtade hon mig och visade stolt upp sitt konstverk! /
My oldest daughter asked if she could borrow a pair of washi tape rolls and headed up to her room. A moment later she fetched me and proudly presented her work of art!

Födelsedagen närmar sig med stormsteg och på lördag är det dags för mig att bli ett decennium äldre. Det ska firas med kära släkten och vi kommer bjuda på italiensk buffé. Jag har gjort små matskyltar att placera på buffén. Mest av praktiskt skäl eftersom vi har en del allergiker och icke-vitlöks-älskande släktingar.

Jag gjorde skyltarna i datorn, skrev ut dem på lite tjockare papper och klippte ut dem. Typsnittet heter “The Only Exception” och finns att ladda ner gratis från Fontspace t ex. För att fästa lapparna på miniklädnyporna använde jag dubbelhäftande tejp.

My birthday is approaching rapidly and on Saturday it’s time to turn a decade older. This will be celebrated in the company of my dear family and relatives. We are treating them to an Italian buffet and I’ve made small food tags to be placed on the buffet table. Mainly because of practical reasons, considering allergies and non-garlic-loving guests. 

I made the tags in my computer and printed them on heavy weight paper. The font I used is called “The Only Exception” and can be downloaded for free from Fontspace for example. To attach the tags to the miniature clothes pegs I used double sided adhesive tape.
